I'm sorry it may be heresy but I think this is a total gimmick.

You boys with automatics want to try driving a manual box car with a stupid big blob of
armrest in the way of your elbow every time you try and change gear; I can't stand it
in my 24v v6 so it's as low as it will go.

It's a car NOT a sitting room boys!!

Leather is rubbish too, uncomfortably hot in the summer or like sitting in a fridge in the
freezing winter weather even with seat heaters; to me it sounds like some sadistic torture. rolleyes.gif

It gets worse.

While most "Leather" XM's got one of the three grades of real leather trim used there are plenty of XM's out there with Grade 4 "Leather" which is just Leather Cloth a type of coloured plastic impregnated cloth with surface graining. The Tan leather 2.5 Estate I got from Penzance is a prime example. Looks good from outside but not a stich of real leather except perhaps the gear stick shroud.

John

Well xmexclusive
Please enlighten us on these different grades of leather.
I've a set of leather from a 1990 Sei everything black no wood trim anywhere and it is still wearing well after 19 years! Pity the original car gave up many years ago!
Cheers.

It's funny how different people like different things.

The VSX had velour seats, very comfy. The C5 all leather, not so comfy. The Exclusive half leather and suede or alcantara? very nice to say I didn't like the look of them!

The armrest is perfect for me, it supports my forearm whilst performing the tedious task of stirring the gears.

Steve.

Nice comment BJ.

I think Andy has been corrupted by his CX/Xantia/XM fetish ;-)

The leather doesn't half burn in hot weather tho...

I love my cloth seats - they appear to have been manufactured using the same process and materials as the sofa my parents bought in 1976. I'll not say that I'll never buy a leather-bound XM because I distinctly remember me saying I'd never buy a bloody manual... laugh.gif

Your right, the armrest is pointless...............on short trips, it would get in the way.
All i can say is next time im on my way to Scotland, i will get to 80mph raise the armrest, set the climate to 22oC, put on some music, lay back and enjoy not having to push that silly little stick around biggrin.gif the xm's a cruiser, i think the armrest suits it perfectly. This is not a pointless quest for another illuminated button tongue.gif biggrin.gif laugh.gif

I have to agree-on auto XM's the raised armrest is soo comfy- I can see that it would get in the way of manual gearchanges but now we're back on the issue of how auto suits the XM so much-in my humble opinion anyway!
Paul-it may be auto but you still gotta be there! biggrin.gif

Or wake up at the Pearly Gates!?

I can see the 'clever' thinking autobox being a great addition with the 24v v6 mill in an Xm as
I'm getting my head around and readjusted to the latest Xantia Exclusive I've just bought. It
seems bizarre to have a 200bhp V6 engine that fights you to stay below 2000k revs; I'm not
an 'old' geezer slowly potching about just yet but am getting there... tongue.gif

Just don't get me started on the armrest on the Xantia's LEATHER seats... rolleyes.gif

My Xantia fold down armrest is permanently folded UP!!
Damned thing's a bloody nuisance and not really worth talking about here!
