Following on from my steering woes I changed the pressure regulator. Car rose faster, clicking was restored BUT it is leaking. Checked all the pipes and they are fine so it can only be the regulator itself, it is dripping out via the bottom bracket.

Are the pressure regs engine specific? I know someone breaking a 2.0 TCT S1 estate in the next few days.

He's in Chester, and a member of this forum in fact, I've been trying to get him to post full details on here.
Will find out now when he can get it off smile.gif

Nice one. I was in Chester the other day too!! Have just had a look and there is a huge puddle beneath it. It seems to be losing it as the car sits after a run rather than when the engine is running because I laid out there watching it with the engine running and there was hardly anything but now a huge puddle. So the need is desperate.

Jimcoted

the leak overthere is usually due just to a worn seal that Cit sells for pennies -did mine last year-. Part no. is 96 157 736. Look this thread's photos to see how to change it:

Thanks I will order the parts. The tools might be a problem because not understanding french I got Google to translate. Here are the tools I need according to Google

Tooling necessary;
1 foret de 3 1 Forest 3
1 petit tournevis 1 small screwdriver
1 pointe Point 1
1 serre joint 1 greenhouse attached
1 plaque en acier( ou une vielle clé plate )pour ne pas abîmer l'emplacement de la sphere. 1 steel plate (or an old wrench) in order not to damage the location of the sphere.

Quite what I do with a Forest and a Green house is unclear!!

You don't really need any special tool for the job. Just

1/something to force and push the moving bottom part inwards so you can free the circlip of the pressure (I did it with a vice)

2/something that will drill the little hole at the side as can be seen on photos (metal is very soft, did mine with a manual mini drill)

3/something thin (small screwdriver) to put in that hole and push the circlip off position

4/and then another similar tool to lift and remove the clip, and u'r done, bottom part will pop off as u untighten the vice.

BTW when u have the bottom thingy off you'll find one or more shims where the spring pushes it, as below (u can just distinguish it in sky blue):

user posted image

These are very important as they regulate the spring's force, that regulates the pressure cut-in point. This is normally at 145bars +/-5. In my 140k XM I found it to be at 137bar. Every 1mm of shim thickness added adds 1bar of pressure to that point. I took mine back up to 145bar but I had a tool to measure that pressure. If ur regulator is old it will prob have dropped by some bars, but I wouldn't advice adding shims without knowing what pressures u r achieving. Although it is far more dangerous to lift the cut-off point (this is tuned in the same manner at the other, plastic head on the regulator, where LHM is returned to the reservoir) above the specified 170bar -putting mine at 177bar soon made my e-valve leak-.

No Ciaran, I waited for a response from him but when I never got one and saw Jorgy's post I went to Measham Citroen this morning and ordered the parts to sort this one out. They will be there Thursday morning.

I like the idea of drilling a small hole to remove the circlip sounds much easier than trying to get it out with a small screwdriver.
