My beast has spring a serious coolant leak. It's at the vertical metal pipe at back of the engine on the left hand side, just at the bracket which secures the pipe to the engine block. I haven't been able to see where this metal tube ends up - I imagine goes into the bottom of the block?

As the fracture is at the top of the pipe close to where it is spring-clipped to the rubber hose, would it be possible to do a quick fix by sliding the hose further down and clamping it really tightly? As the bracket would stop the hose going down far enough down, I would have to cut this though.

For a proper, non-bodged solution, I will have to replace the pipe. Does anyone know if this is a DIY job or strictly for the pros?

Happy new year everyone

Jamie

Hi Jammie

I wouldn't know if the job is tough or not, I would guess that it isn't, question is do u have satisfactory access to the area to do it?

Has anybody had such a fault before, sounds rare.

cheers
George

Hi George

Access will be hard - I think. As far as can see, after a couple of bends, the pipe joins the back of the engine low down. The question is: what sort of join is it? I imagine it must be a nut job. I've managed a temporary fix by sliding a rubber collar low down and clamping it really tight.

best wishes

Jamie
