Hi all

Bad news Gents sad.gif , while out learning to drive in his BX my brother was hit up the arse by some some woman in a r**er 75, its split the bumper along its whole length, broken the rear light lense and put a fist shaped whole in the tailgate, its still totaly drivable with no structural damage which is more than can be said for here r**er but its not the point is it!!!
She admitted liability at the scene but you can bet your life on the fact it will be a right off, and he will be told he can get a 1.4 leader for 150 quid and pay out pennies. Hopefully he can buy it back and get it repaired, fingers crossed.

It might have been better not to go through the insurance Co. I have a rear bumper here and I'm sure we could come by a tailgate if required. Fix it yourself, stuff the insurers.

I agree with Ken. I only have mine insured TPFT now as you get no help from the insurance companies whatsoever with cars of our age and value

I agree. BUT... Often there is virtually no difference in premium between TPFT and Fully Comp. £20 or less in some cases.

Given that the Fully Comp gives you windscreen cover then it is probably worth it for that. Though given peoples experience of changing windscreens it sounds like it should be avoided at all costs - but for the other glass...

I don't know if they would try to write the car off for a windscreen or not wacko.gif

Ah yes! I've been here before, that's why I will be looking for a comprehensive quote this year. It still doesn't make any difference to whether they pay out in the event of an accident or not, but they always pay for windscreens. I have only had one break in fifty years of motoring, but it doese stop you cringing when a stone hits your screen. sad.gif

I wouldn't have thought they would write it off for a windscreen as you can go ahead and get it replaced if you use their reccomended agents.

Hi mrquiver

Thank you for the offer, it is dark metalic green.
It is going into the garage for inspection next week, with a bit of luck he will get enough money from the insurance to cover the cost of s/h parts, but if not i think he will still splash out and repair it anyway because it is/was such a good car and he is getting quite attached to it rolleyes.gif .
