Thats entertainment, I suppose mad.gif Just seen a similar thing with a BX. These people should get out more.

Not actually done a cambelt on a 2ltr one before, but can't see it being that bad and no real reason why it should be expensive.

and looks like he's doing all that at the lowest setting, very unkind to the car!

Here's my favorite - one reason we like the XM so much compared to the other big cars of the time...

Could be the same XM in both videos........

I think the reg no. on the Tiff Needel one is H565GDP.....anyone on here recognise it?

Pretty impressive that it can almost keep up with the Elan.......they should have tried it again but with four passengers in each car......

Is that a dificult/expensive job ken?
Is that a silly question?

I think this character will need a new clutch soon......hope he's not the previous owner of my XM

Well, the thing is, as long as you're prepared to do the necessary maintenance / repair work, then I see no harm in driving it hard occasionly.

I agree though, I wouldn't like him to have been the previous owner of one of mine, but each to their own I guess laugh.gif

Last year my mechanic did the timing belt, tensioner and water pump. He charged me 3 hours labour (the book said 3 and a half) but said that next time having done one he could do it in 1.5 hours. I doubt that I will do it again as the car is going to have to go soon (Company car on order GRRRR). Sadly he charges London rates (£40 per hour plus VAT)

An experienced Citroen guy should be able to match this time. The parts however were about £130 from Citroen. I would advise using only an OE belt but you might shop around for the pump and tensioner.

FYI my pump and tensioner were both absolutely shot at 91000 miles and I was advised that there was a danger of one or other seizing and breaking the belt with disasterous results. He showed me the old parts and they were very 'gritty' and stiff to turn .

Yes I recognise it.. and its a S1 24v Manual!!! AND Its still TAXed till march this year! So someone is still enjoying it!!

Luckily the burnout car is of european veriaty and not in the UK.. (I think, the reg plates didn't look like uk ones, and I think it was LHD)

Autocar magazine, (or it could be What Car?) used it in a Group test when it was new!!

I have the road test, and intend scanning it in..
