Well.... I like the sound of the car but I'm not keen on black, I think I am more likely to go for the silver one. I will wait until after the holiday and see if its still there. I spoke to the chap, he is in Southend, sounds as though its good but you dont know until you see it. I would like a late one but still don't like the idea of auto, but I dont think any late manuals exist. Anyone converted one to manual?

Hi Peter, I converted my old 2.0 SEI auto to manual a few years ago - quite a job timewise but not too difficult.

Couple of unusual things about the black one. Black leather seats seem to be special order for an estate but no headlight washers according to photo. The latter needed for HID conversion compliance. I wonder if towards the end of production Cit were using up leftovers or bunging on extras to previously standard spec. to get them sold.

Hi Colin

Time is not to much of a problem as I am retired, inclination is more of a problem! Presumably I need a complete donor car for gear linkage etc.

Robert - Would it have heated seats?

Hi Peter,
Can't say if seats are heated as I did not enquire beyond the ad and single photo.
I read somewhere that hatch and estate rear seats are different so not a case of fitting "exclusive" hatch seats. I have never seen leather seats in an estate before as original equipment, so seemed unusual to me.

Hello again Peter, a donor car would be the best as you'll need the wiring loom to incorporate wiring for the reversing lights switch and to remove the inhibitor switch wiring (I didn't have access to one so had to "bodge" my existing loom, engine and gearbox mounts, the large metal framework underneath the dash - the pedals will fit this but a vital metal "bracket" for the clutch cable guide is missing on the auto's, some of the plumbing as the auto box has a cooler fitted, obviously the gearbox, clutch and selector rods, driveshafts and the bottom engine mount that supports one of the driveshafts and loads of small, fiddly things that I can't remember offhand...

Best wishes, Colin.P

I regularly pass a parked black P reg estate (seems to live near my work) and it looks qite good to me. Must check out what model it is some day.

I don't know what carpets others have but I like the black interior on my S1 better than the grey carpets etyc on the S2.

go on!

Thanks for that Colin. Certainly not a job for the winter! In the event that I did buy an auto, I would probably run it until the box went and then convert.
