Arghh.. Having changed my headlights I have just found out my bonnet release has desided to fail, I don't think it has snapped, but more it has popped off the top of the passenger side headlight. Is there a way to open the bonnet without breaking anything when this happens?

Hi Stewart

The operating rod between the catches runs across the top of the cooling fan panel. I have reached and operated this from underneath when I lost the keys to a locked car.

Regards

John

The question is will it work when the cable has come adrift from the top of the headlight unit

Yes , it will work by moving the rod across. The cable has only become adrift - this does not prevent the rod moving across from side to side and operating the release.

Not yet. When your battery goes flat and you can't start the car to lift it high enough to reach underneath the nose cone, then reconsider your location in relation to the end of the world laugh.gif

Foound out what it is, when I put the headlight back on and clipped the cable in place I forgot to actually re-attach the catch to the cable.. DOH!. Bit of weilding of a 10mm at WE should return functionality.

believe on an S1 it's possible to reach in and release the bonnet catch by removing the centre fin in the grille, but doubt that's viable on the S2 nosecone....
