I seem to be loosing some LHM from somewhere...
Fluid is not leaking as such, certainly tere is no sign of this under the car, however I topped it up 3 weeks ago, and its now just under the mark when on full height from being at the top mark. The car is a very early Series 2 XM but still has the FDV I think, it definitly has the same high pressure pump as my S1 XM (but does have Hydractive 2). Any good places to look? Hi Zaphod.
Three areas I've had leaks at on different ones of mine, which didn't leave an immediate trace were --- very slightly loose union into power steering pinion. The escaping fluid was getting spread along the underside of the car, gradually. Some spill back pipe (??) from the valve the accumulator sphere attaches to. Split rubber end was oozing and the fluid was hitting the engine block and just lost in the general grime. Split spill back from front leg. Again, gradual dissipation within the arch -- until it gave out altogether ! Mike. -------------------- XM 2.5VSX Estate RP 7185

Had a look under the engine, and have found green fluid on the bottom of the gearboc and teh sump at the gearbox end. How ever it appears to be originating form either the bit the accumulator shere is in or from the other bit with all the pipes in it (is this teh Flow distribution valve?) I will get them gleaned off as they are both covered in greasy filth and see whats going on then

If it's coming from the flow distribution valve then it is likely the O rings have failed. You will see that the flow distribution valve has a couple of "pots" on each end that look like core plugs. Citroen do a repair kit that doesn't cost much, either that or you can get a refurbished one from the usual suspects. Link from self help section below.

I don't know if the brake valve in XM is the same kind it is in BX, but I had the same kind of problem you are describing with a BX. It was caused by a bleeding return hose of the brake valve. There was no green spot under the car when parked, but there was a stream of LHM everytime I used the brakes
