Hi all,
Please find attached a file which should explain how to remove the ABS sensor for the rear wheels. The same procedure will apply for the front sensors. cheers noz -------------------- '10 '59' C5 2.0 HDi Exclusive Tourer Metallic Grey

Well All
I gave this trail a go this week, at the beginning of the week, Monday I think, when it was nice, I got the rear wheel drivers side off the S2 and took the disk off too, I then heated the rear arm below the sensor enterance on the rear arm and heated it for a good half hour on and off, and then applying some twisting force.. No good, no movment on the inner side, spent another half hour on it and then gave up... So today, friday 27th, I went back to it, Id just removed the rear height corrector, and rear electro valve/centre sphere unit, and thought, I wonder of that sensor, so took the wheel off again, and with a pair of pliers had another go at it, with no heat, then all of a sudden the inner end of the sensor moved, huh, did that just move then? begs the thought, ad sure enough it did!!! So with the help of WD40 and a bit of twisting and mauling the sensor, and 45 mins later it came out!!!! BUT - Yeah I thought, yes theres a few plier teeth marks on it, I unplugged the join, and put a meter accross it, and .... yup ......... you guessed it ..... its died!! If I remember rightly Bendix sensors come apart and you can get to the VERY fine windings.. so next week, if I get a moment in work, Ill open it up and check the windings, and the main cable incase I used too much force trying to free it from the clips on the arm... It was squashed as per the one in Noz guide. But basically at the end of the day, I did it the Noz way, and it came from there eventually.. Will have to be a BIT more carefull with the next one and take a bit more time... rgds Paul -------------------- 1993 K Reg 3.0 V6 12 Valve Auto (Green) LPG S1.5 SORNd

I reckon that Citroen used a bit of 'backward' engineering to save a few Francs when they designed the XM ABS sensor mountings. Life would have been a lot easier if they had continued with the more elegant design that was used on the CX. This employed a loose plastic sleeve plus a special grease to ensure some moisture proofing and a good separation of the sensor from the alloy hub. Removal of a CX sensor was never a problem as I recall but when I have removed both front and rear sensors (with stainless steel cases) from my XM I have ended up totally destroying them in the process.
