Hi all

It may seem like I've posted a lot of probs on here lately But since I've got my new donor car I'm trying to sort out some of those long running niggles, so here goes.
When i blip the throttle, the engine splutters a bit revs then drops to a point where i think it will almost stall, then evens out, it only happens on warm up. I have got new coil, plugs, amplifier module, and leads so does anyone have any ideas, Would a slightly blowy exhaust cause this problem? Cos i have one biggrin.gif

HI all

Sorted it over the weekend, It appears to have been the aux air valve seal on the inlet manifold leaking or the valve itself cos after a good clean and a new seal its fine again now, hopefully!

is that the plunger type air-control valve? (magnetti marelli system)

will do it from time to time, and rev by itself too. Strip & clean then reassemble usually sorts it - or just disconnect the hose from the air cleaner to it and spray in carb cleaner with engine running for a short-term relief.

regards
Dave

Hi Dave

Its the Bosch motronic system, The valve seats into the manifold with a thick rubber seal, which was split!, and the valve brings air from a point in the inlet trunking between the filter housing and the manifold. Following your suggestion i took it off again and gave it a good clean, all seems well again now thanks

I really must get round to doing this, mine behaves much the same sometimes, can stall occasionly with it as well...

Glad you got it sorted Dean, nice to have a simple fix for once!

Hi Ciaran

I must admit when i noticed the symptoms, i couldn't help but think the worst, because with an XM it nearly always is biggrin.gif
