Saw a car the other day in the distance and it caught my eye but I haven't a clue what it was. I thought at first it was a citroen by the shape of it so i followed it. It had german plates and the mud flaps had a single chevron on them. 1000l de luxe was on the boot lid. It looked like something from the 60's (I am from the 70's). I passed it but the front didnt look like anything i recognised. Any Ideas? thanks

Fits the 60's era and there was a 1000L although I'm not sure about the Deluxe bit!!

Then there's the NSU-Prinz!!

I wondered about a Panhard as they were practically Citroen

Weren't they amalgamated into Citroen around the late 60's? From what I recall
Citroen bought out their competitor and then promptly wound that particular
operation up, although the engineering expertise was used to help develop the
GS with a dose of 2CV added!!

Again, a rare car although I can't imagine the badging being 1000L Deluxe - that
sounds more Rootes/Hillman rather than a French company. Sometimes owners
put some bizarre badging on their cars themselves just to confuse everyone!!

My Cx GTi Turbo2 is running on Alfa alloys with the centre caps still an Alfa shield
and some little git has pinched my chevrons and this REALLY confuses non car people
who always ask me about it! The boot badge is SOOOOOO LOOONG people stop
reading it before it gets to the Citroen bit as they have such a bad attention span! wink.gif

The car is a Simca 1000. Simca became part of the Routes, (Hillman, Humber, Singer, Sunbeam etc) group in the 1960's. Simca made some pretty looking cars in the late 50's early 60's including the Aronde, one of which my father had in l1957/8, before his first DS.

Sorry, misunderstood, thought you were asking about car in picture!! Regarding the one you saw, possibly a Borgward? or maybe Tatra? Search net for pics.

The only one I can think of is an 'SM' but I think they were considerably bigger than '1000'.
