I was in the S1 yesterday, hopelessly lost in a rabbit warren of a housing estate yesterday, looking for a customer's house.
As I went up a hill in yet another dead end cul-de-sac, I passed some kids playing football. I heard them mumble something about the car, but thought nothing of it. I turned at the top, and started going back down the street again. As I slowed to pass the kids, one of them said "Hey mate, do you work for NASA or something?!" Amused, I said "What makes you say that?", and he replied "That car looks like a f***ing space ship!!" Have to say I laughed at that, it made my day! Similar story when I was rebuilding the front end on my S1 estate. I had the nose cone off leaving the 2 fans visible.
2 kids were walking past looking on, one says to the other "bloody hell it's a time machine" -------------------- 92 (J) 2.1TD Est. Usual Green.

We were on a trip through Queensland a few years ago and had UHF radios with us. I have always been curious about what the stop/go guys say when they allow you through road works, so as we were waiting to be let through I scanned the channels and as they let us through (we were last in line) we heard the guy say "and the last one is some silver space car". Deb and I were laughing, but I radioed back "It's a Citroen mate, Citroen". The response was a rather puzzled "Yeah, um, right..."
Since that trip we have transferred the UFO998 plates from our DS to the XM as the DS was old enough to qualify for historic rego but in Aus you must put on special plates. So the "silver space car" now really is a UFO! Good to see others get a similar reaction -------------------- Craig Keller

You think you get odd comments - I ride 2 sidecar outfits (not at the same time! ) as well as the xm - you should see/hear some of the reactions I get! The usual one is " look, it's George and Mildred" followed by the bloke thinking he is some sort of comedic genius. They normally get a bit grumpy when I tell them that it's the third time I've heard it today! As for the boy racers in their souped up hairdryers - they seem to think that they can beat a 1300 chucking out about 125 horsepower away from the lights! I p**s myself each and every time! Good fun!
