Last night when we arrived in Sydney to stay with a friend for the
evening and go to see "Priscilla - The Musical" (great show - you should see it if it ever tours outside Aus - any way back on topic). We arrived at our friends and went to reverse the CX into a parking spot and the car sort of surged a couple of times backwards and then stalled. I started it again and tried again and the same symptoms. We were on a slight forwards slope so I drove down the street to level area and it was not much better. Anyway, we went around the block and managed to get into a parking spot without using reverse. Driving forwards seems fine. On our way this morning to a classic car show we checked the Dex 2 and added about 600ml of a 1l bottle as the level was just touching the end of the dipstick when we checked. On arrival at the show the performance in reverse was no better. Standing around theorising with a few people, we can only assume (hopefully) that the bands require adjustment. I have previously done this on my BX Tri Auto and am expecting that the CX job will be about the same. Can anyone confirm our thoughts or provide an alternate view - please? -------------------- Craig Keller

Fixed! Tightened clamp holding air hose to throttle body and now when the engine moves a bit when going to reverse it doesn't open up a gap in the air supply and over air the engine.
Must have been that fool that had the air supply apart a couple of weeks ago. -------------------- Craig Keller

Arent the CX Auto's a 3 speed CITROEN unit, and the BX a ZF 4 speed unit used in all later cars?
Strange for it to only affect reverse and not your forward gear selection too.. Rgds citroenxm -------------------- 1993 K Reg 3.0 V6 12 Valve Auto (Green) LPG S1.5 SORNd

The Cx uses a proper autobox that DOESN'T usually crap out at 120k miles!!
The engine rocking on it's mounts will do all sorts of nasties to the rear loom and even the injectors, so the induction pipe opening to normal atmospheric doesn't surprise me in the slightest... Andrew |

CX uses the ZF HP22 three speed unit. In this day and age it really cries out for a 4th gear. I wonder if anyone has ever contemplated it? -------------------- Craig Keller
