Servus, Club Xm, Introduction of a Bavarian XM enthusiast

Hi over there, far across the Channel,

I joined this forum in order to get a chance and exchange a few thoughts and tips with other owners and fans of the XM.
I bought my first car at the tender age of 33 - I did not need one before.

Of course, this was an XM, a TD 2.1 Y3-model in my favourite colour dark-red.
The previous owners had obviously not done much (if anything at all) to keep the car in good shape and therefore much maintenance ranging from (almost) all hoses in the motor block up to a complete AC overhaul had to be done over the years.
Sadly, an oil leak led to a complete motor failure and now I deem this XM is now either in Eastern Europe or it may have ended as a spare parts donator. All this happened in March 2006.

Luckily, my Citroen dealer had a beautiful replacement sitting in his yard.
It was the only car there covered with snow - I found out later that the dealer fancied to add this car to his private collection of Citroens. So he obviously tried not to attract too much attention to it.
Well, you cannot stop an XM enthusiast from spotting the unusual shape of this car even under 4 inches of snow, can you?
So today I again own an XM TD 2.1, but this time a Y4-model from mid 1998 which has had one previous owner and a mileage of just 80.000 km (March 2006). The colour is now snow-white with decorative chrome strips on the wheel arch and a second spoiler on the top of the rear hatch.

Well, I could have done without the second spoiler but I would never have thought that white is such a suitable colour for an XM.
It's a real beauty and even easier to find on big parking lots than my previous XM.
I miss the Y3 design a bit, though - especially in the car's interior. But the additional security due to airbags makes more than up for this.

When will Citroen introduce the single-spoke steering wheel again, I wonder....

Welcome to the club, and with my favourite car, well 2.1 td anyway, I like the manual estate version, I take it yours is auto, most here were after '96. A very late one too.

I have two, a common green one and the other is metalic red, would look nice if it was compounded and polished! My son drives that one, but at present it is on my ramp as I attempt to change two broken hydraulic pipes on the steering rack, a result of the ram anchoring bolt falling out!

Well, enjoy the club and take advantage of the wealth of knowledge and information on here and maybe you can add some of your own.
