Electric Cycle, It's great fun to ride

I finally decided to take the plunge and buy an electric cycle after a couple of years of shall I, sharn't (?) I.

I need more exercise but don't want to spend time doing it when I could be on the XM or the PC or whatever else I fancy. So I decided that if I cycled to work a couple of days a week it would do me and the enviroment good. Anyhow I bought a Ezee Cadence off Ebay. It's surprisingly large and only just fitted in the back of the estate without taking bits off it. It's great fun to ride but does seem to attract too much attention due to it's looks. Looks like a serious job that, the trye sizes look like the autocycles of the '50s. Quite a lot of battery capacity too by the look of it. What sort of range and speed?

Friends in the CCC of NSW have recently bought two of those electric bikes. They live only minutes from the centre of Sydney and Chris retired early this year. He is having a great time exploring the inner suburbs on his bike knowing that the hard work of hills is taken care of.

I rode one of the bikes one evening and I must say I am impressed. I am considering a better way to get to work as it is a max 15 minute drive each day on relatively quiet and flat roads. These bikes look interesting.

Err! How strange, the first time I clicked on the link I got a Cx and Xm parked outside a concrete building with either a giant coconut the other side of the Xm or King Kong with his back to the camera!

The second time I clicked I saw a group of Sm's and what look like Cx's.

Well it's standard so the powered speed is 15mph, after this the power drops off and you're on your own. The range varies (according to reports) dependent on the amount of pedalling you do and the size of the hills. Here in 'sunny' Sheffield we have lots of big hills so the range could be as low as 10-15 miles. The chap I bought it off commuted 8 miles each way to work on it.

It seems to have attracted alot of interest from colleagues who are keen to try it out. It does seem to put the fun back into cycling that dissappeared along with my fitness.

Even stranger, I got this seriously beautiful yellow Citroen, but it weren't no Xantia!

Aha, there it is, No 1 on the picture strip. But that gorgeous yellow open Cit has disappeared.

Reminds me of a Raliegh Runabout I had

1966 48 CC of raw rubber belt driven power.

Pedal power required up hills, slopes, inclines erm felt like even on the flat as well

If these new cycles could be recharges by solar.................

Solar could be done but due to the Lio Ion battery it would be simpler (but not cheaper) to use an invertor to take the power from a panel and feed it into the standard charger.
