Your advice, Gentlemen, please.

New toy, 96 build 2.5 Estate. Front LH return rubber pipe split exactly at the top of the metal pipe it joins in the arch. No immediate problem, as there is seemingly enough slack in the return to allow for at least a temporary reconnection beyond the split.
What I can't quite see though, as the anti roll bracket is in the way, is whether this return pipe is all of a piece with the rubber block that is clamped to the leg over the return port, or whether I should be able to separate it just by that block and simply replace the length of pipe ?

Mike.

Hi Mike

They are usually all part of the block that clamps on the strut, they are not very expensive but are a bit of a fiddle to fit. I can never get the metal clip that they supply, to close, so I use a plastic cable tie. You must get the strut clean where it fits. I think GSF do them.

Hi Peter.

Thanks for the info. I know what you mean about the clips --- I've always had that problem with the metal clips they seem to supply with drive shaft gaiters.

Mike.

I changed my brake pads on the weekend and noticed my rubber return pipe was split at the metal pipe in the arch, and had sprayed some fluid around the arch. My solution, as I couldn't see exactly how the pipe fixed to the strut was a piece of calor gas hose, as it's exactly the same dimensions, and a piece of metal tube off a broken telescopic magnet. I just cut off the crumbly bit off the old hose and joined the new pipe to the old with the metal tube between them, totally solid it won't come off now. Mr bodgeit strikes again! laugh.gif

Well done Mr Bodgeit, where there's a will there's a way.
