Hi all,

I bought another 2.5 two weeks ago, this time an Exclusive saloon.

When starting the rear of the car lowers and then rises to a overly high position where it remains. Ride is excellent due to new / regassed spheres and one of Roy's boxes but handeling is terrible.

On 27th April the car had £700 of work done at Marsh Citroen Repairs Ltd, New Romney, Kent, including
-supply and fit second hand shock absorber
-supply and fit new rear brake pads
-to strip and sort out rear height corrector
-to strip and sort out regulator, supply and fit new seals to rebuild
-new spheres, 2 rear, 1 centre rear, 1 regulator
-regassed spheres, 2 front, 1 centre

When buying it was pointed out to me that the LHM had not been changed and 1 sphere had not been replaced / regassed (one that sits above rear subframe?)

Dirty LHM ? the 8th untouched sphere ? front height corrector ?

Any ideas before I start spending ?

Cheers,

Mark.

Hi Mark

Sounds as though the ride height is set to high. Either by the adjustment on the anti roll bar or possibly the clamp on the end of the height control lever linkage.

Either way, it's a relatively easy "try and check" adjustment. But it MUST only be done over a pit or on ramps.

Thanks for your help Peter and Derek,

I'll try and get the car on a ramp today as this has really taken the fun out of driving it.

Cheers,

Mark.

That's what the £701:07 invoice from Marsh Citroen Repairs Ltd "a complete service for all Citroens" says !?!

Hi Mark, it might be worth while going back to Marsh Citroen and asking which shock absorber they changed. I assume by "shock absorber" they mean "damper" and as you probably know, the dampers are integral with the spheres.

"Rear end rising". I remember that, it was by Credence Clearwater Revival, "I see the rear end rising, I see trouble on the way ...."

Oh, Mark. You definitely should go back to Marsh before you start fiddling yourself.
They worked on your height corrector, didn't they? Fit second hand shock absorber sounds unusual and which regulator did they sort out???

Hi Mark

In case you are not aware, Marsh Citroen are very well respected by Citroen Car Club members for working and fault finding on XM's so a phone call could well be worth while.

Regards
