My clutch works how it should when the engine is cold but as soon as things warm up, it gets really bumpy.
You can override the bumpiness by revving it very hard but I don't like doing this. Just so I can go back to the garage armed with some knowledge, does anyone have an idea what could be causing it? A friend tells me it the difference between hot and cold running sounds typical of oil contamination. The problem is getting worse, I think. The new clutch was fitted less than six months ago by the XM Centre in Oxford so I'm hoping it's still their responsibility. Jamie -------------------- Jamieb

Hi jamieb
If it has only just started happening and the clutch has been in a while would say oil contamination sounds about right, not wishing to put a dampner on things, but the garage would not be liable for, say crankshaft seal failure, after the clutch was fitted. But is definatly worth taking it back anyway, because this may not be the problem, Just in my opinion the most likely. -------------------- 92 xm 20i prestige auto (modified)R.P 5678

I would concur. Just check the top of the bell housing to see if you have any fuel or LHM leaking into the clutch.
