Update on the shredding belt issue on my pals AC TD 2.5. The garage fella has deemed
the automatic tensioner has had it and needs replacement and on prompting has had a
gander at the pump and timing belts and says they're frayed on their edges and really
do need renewal.

Right, while he's in there is there anything else that may crop up at a later date and bite
your wotsit if it's not changed/checked now? I'd usually say the water pump but it's been
suggested it lives in a different spot on the 2.5 TD unit. I must confess I'm blind to this
engine and haven't checked any manuals etc to gen myself up on it to offer any
constructive advice.

Any suggestions/anecdotes and parts suppliers etc are very welcome. Apparently the
Indy mechanic keeps saying the car is so rare he hardly does any work on them though
I'm not sure if this is his disguised way of saying he doesn't know what he's doing on it
either!!

ps. If you're reading this John, can you text Peter on his mobile and he'll happily ring
you back! When you tried before he was away in Spain on a long business trip and has
subsequently managed to lose your contact details now!!

All the best,
Andrew

The 2.5 water pump is on the front LH of the engine and is driven by a different belt on the opposite side of the car. Not a problem.
