Replacement Exhaust For 2.5 - Best Supplier?

Folks,

The back section of my 2.5's exhaust has just about expired.

Can anyone give a pointer as to a best supplier, please? Do GSF them? AEP Glasgow?

I'm thinking of a factor, rather than an exhaust centre manned ("youthed" ?)by monosyllabic lads who have yet to start shaving.

(That'll be £634.78, mate. Oh, unuusal car, this. Sorry, but one of the lads knocked that funny lever-valve with the arm on it when he was under. A bit of green stuff came out, but you can top that up when you get back, can't you? We don't know these, so we can't do anything" etc...)

Is it the final box or the back cross box just in front that you are after?
As a guide to best price I had the 2.5 final box priced a few months ago at £70 fitted by Micheldever Tyres. They did me the whole exhaust fitted on one of the V6's a little while ago for £306. They are a tyre wholesaler with one retail outlet in the sticks near Basingstoke. Most of the time there is a waiting line of cars for the half a dozen tyre bays.

I just replaced the two rear boxes on my 2.5 last week. They cost me £216 inc VAT fitted for both. Kwak fit wanted a small fortune.

I've not been under to take a look yet, but the tailpipe has a hole, and I suspect that it's the original system. Not bad for 130K.

Noz., are Cooper Bros likely to be any good at mail order?

Just for the record, I got one from Partco (now “Unipart Automotive”) for
about £60+VAT. A special order, supplied “next day” and non-returnable (so
be very sure of the spec.)

The manufacturer is Arvin.

Coopers were unwilling to do mail order.

It might be an idea to have a look on ebay. I got a brand new back box for my 2.1 for £9.99 plus delivery. I was the only one who bid on it!

The back box on mine was replaced by previous owner. The mid and cross boxes are in one piece and original. the cross box is showing some distress in one spot but the long box seems perfect. Anyone know if any of the cross boxes available separately for some other models are compatible for pipe diameter?
