Hi ,
Like many other XM drivers ,I've never been able to read the Dot Matrix on my XM as there have been more bits missing than present. That is until today ,when I fitted a repair kit I bought on the French Ebay. I simply had to take out the old one, remove the cellophane piece with conducting tracks which joins the edge connectors to the Display, clean off the old glue and replace with a small sheet of rubber containing conducting tracks in it.Then put it all together again. Now about 95% of the pixels work and for a cost of 20 GBP. If anyone is interested put "nappe afficheur gauche " into a search on Ebay.fr. The instructions are in French but with plenty of pictures.
regards Tony.
ps Ihave no connection with the guy but it seems an excellent product for a very common problem. He replied in English and posted it the same day.

Hi Franpa2

Very interesting. I bought one of these kits a couple of weeks ago but haven't had a chance to fit it. I hope mine works as well as your.

It does seem quite alot for what you get! Although it's way cheaper than talking to Mr Citroen.

Cheers

Tony

Hi Wirdy and XM V6 sadist,
I'm talking S2 here. The most difficult part was getting the old unit off the horizontal plastic strip on the dash panel, as I only loosened it enough to get access ( I didn't remove the dash ) and it was difficult to see the plastic tabs which locked the unit to the dash panel. Good luck when you go to do your's XM V6 sadist.
regards Tony

I did this job a few months ago. 100% of the pixels work wink.gif

For more info go to XM-L and do a search for Dot matrix.

So would the rubber LCD strip from a cheap calculator or two from the pound shop work also? I'll buy one and pull it apart just to see smile.gif

/ Yes, I'm a cheapskate!
