Hi, remote locking not working on our 95 21TD - I have another S2 car with working remote - what bits do I need to use to swap working one to the other car?
My other question is - has anyone fitted climate control to standard VSX car would I need to swap the loom or has VSX got conectors already there? Cheers, Andrew -------------------- White 2.5TD VSX estate, leather

Hi 2smv627
The Mk2 remote receiver is the big black box with a white connecting socket found centrally on a chassis strut under the passenger side glove box. Do not forget the hidden screw down by the lock to avoid damaging the glove box as you take it out. Just swap the recievers and Plips. The receiver and the Pilp(s) are a matched set so reprogramming is not possible. You will also have to swap the electronics between the Plips or exchange the key blades. Moving the Plip electronics is the easiest if the replacement Plip case is in good condition. One small screw and all then all the case bits unclip. Swapping the key blades usually needs a new pin kit from Citroen (£2ish) and is a little tricky as it is easy to damage the Plip case if you try the crude approach of drilling out the pin. With a small flat bladed watchmakers screw driver you can lever the pin apart without damage. Regards XMexc -------------------- An interest in 2.5TD's.

Hi, perfect! Just swapped the unit and the remote and alarm work !
Good job you said about the screw by the lock, I don`t think I`d have found it untill after ripping the box out. Thanks, now all I need to find out about is the A/C. -------------------- White 2.5TD VSX estate, leather

Hi 2smv627
Glad it worked with the remote swap. A/C is a different matter. The standard VSX has climate control with manual settings. It just cannot cool because of the lack of A/C. I think that the two types of control panel use the same connectors so most of the wiring will be insitu. The missing A/C bits are the problem as the dash has to be taken out to cut the hole through the bulkhead for the pipe connections and to fit the evaporator in the heater box. I have been collecting bits to A/C a couple of 2.5VSX's for a while now but it most likely means dash and engine out so not for the faint harted. I have never tried swapping a manual panel for a digital one because the manual ones are very difficult to remove/refit and set up so if the digital one did not work out refitting would be a pain. If you do decide to try and want to see examples of the various stripped out bits the let me know. Regards XMexc -------------------- An interest in 2.5TD's.

Hi, for swapping the AC I`ve got a 95 21td Exclusive so I`ll probably strip the dash out and see whats what and go from there. I did think that with dash out I could have a go at swapping the looms. I think all the engine bay bits will be fairly straight forward, sump change etc.
I can see the cut away in the bulkhead sound proofing fot the pipes into the cabin. If the wiring causes to many problems I had thought I could just wire in a switch through AC pressure switch to switch system seperately to heater. Anyway I`ll report back on my findings. Cheers. Hi
The dash is held on the chassis by six or seven bolts. It can then be pulled back and tied up out of the way by rope or straps over the roof. You can then get into cut the hole for theaircon pipes and fit the heat exchanger. On a 2.5TD VSX all the wiring and connectors are insitu but the hydraulics have to be replumbed to make room for the compressor. Not sure about the 2.1 wiring but quick check is to have a look for tied up cable with a spare white 2 pin on the front drivers side of the engine. If the compressor lead is present then chances are the rest will be also. The rest is a sensor on one of the pipes to the heater and one or two heater box actuators to motorise the flaps. These are universal and accept either type of drive. Regards XMexc -------------------- An interest in 2.5TD's.
