I have an Exclusive 2.5tD which has the variable wiper controls but they do not vary apparently stuck on the slowest rate (at a guess). Otherwise wipers are fine. Obviously this could be the switch or the control unit. Before I seek out parts and undertakle fixes I'd appreciate any experience that might suggest what to try first.

On mine it was rather sticking to the long period, about 14 secs -the short is about 4secs in mine-. I opened up the stalk and cleaned the variable resistor's surface and it's OK now. Could also be a not-very-tight contact (in very hot weather my indicator stalk is playing up). Opening up the stalk down to its smallest components is straightforward -there are no screws or anything weird, just soft plastics clipping together-.

George
