QUOTE (Ciaran @ May 12 2007, 22:37 PM)

Peter, your point about the gearing of the 2Ls definately rings true. Doing ~80ish on the motorway, the S1 sits a tad over 3k. Now while thats not exactly revving the nuts of it, it does sound a bit thrashy compared to the diesel.

Something odd I've noticed about the S1 steering wheel, it seems to give much sharper control. Now theres no play or anything like that in the S2 steering, but the S1 is extremely pin sharp when cornering. Perhaps its due to the larger circumfrence of the wheel and the small centre which transmits the rotation down the steering column, I don't know, but it almost had me steering into kerbs a few times before I got used to it! biggrin.gif

Yes, my S1 is definitely a lower gear ratio than the S2, the S2 box "feels" less substantial even though its got over 100k less miles.

I already mentioned I preferred the S1 wheel didn't I:-), I guess it is larger as well as thicker.

i have been told that if you take the stalk from an XM with the trip computer and fit it to one without, then it works!!

Citroen must have used a common display, and only put the stalk with the button on higher spec models.

**Scratches Chin..... wonder if my V6 Breaker has a stalk??**

Looks lovely and tidy anyway!

David.

Hi All

Sorry, there are 2 versions of the clock display. The one without the trip computer has a different electrical connector with far fewer pins. This makes an upgrade much more than swapping the stalk.

On the noise issue it is important to reinstate the door foam after window winder repairs as leaving a hole gives noise a route into the cabin. The same applies to a loose or miss-set tailgate latch or a window that does not close fully.

Regards

Hi guys,
Oh well David, it was wishful thinking while it lasted! I had visions of going and doing it in five minutes, but I should have known better than to expect anything on an XM to be so simple smile.gif

Cheers for the thought biggrin.gif
