Hi all, my keypad or ecu or both have just let me down... I now have both red and green lights on solid when the ignition is turned on, I can enter my code but no go, any ideas how to get around this ? I have tried a reserve keypad but it's just the same.

Cheers, Colin.P

Hi Colin,

Try the fuse for the ecu. Sounds like lack of power to the ecu.

Cheers

Hi, have you tried leaving the ignition on for 10mins - sometimes works. We have also come accross dodgy earths on the gearbox, nomally small green one (xantias)
Not sure if it works on XMs but other PSA keypads - if when you get it running you can normally disconnect th keypad and this stops the immobiliser working and the car should start straight from the key.

Hi All

The time delays apply to a keypad locked out (flashing red) due to 3 successive incorect codes. The delay can be as much as 30 mins for a later Mk2. Full details are in the cars owners manual.
If both red and green lights are lit then switching the ignition off then on again should reset to just a red light ready for the code.
The code is stored in the ECU so swapping the keypads does not reset the ECU. Colin you could try unplugging the main connector on the top of the ECU to see if this causes the microprocessor in the ECU to reset itself. Give it a few minutes to let any onboard capacitors drain down. The ECU will still remember your code through all this. Disconnecting the battery should have the same effect but will give you the clock and the radio to reset.

Regards

Thanks for all your helpful advice gents, i feel a bit of a fool actually - it was the fuel cut of switch under the bonnet that had tripped out... once reset, the keypad behaved and the engine started as normal biggrin.gif

Best wishes, Colin.P

Hi Colin.

Glad you're sorted. At the risk of stating the obvious, what do you reckon had caused the switch to trip, particularly as the car was presumably at rest when you turned it off ? I thought it was only impact that triggered the cut off switch ?

Mike.

Hi Peter, problem was (of course) me blink.gif I disconnected it and the ecu amongst other things in order to replace the engine mounting on that side - the rest is history...

I would never have guessed that the cut out switch would alter the operation of the keypad though, of course, the original handbook mentions both lights blinking (mine were on solid) but tells you to contact a dealer to sort it out ph34r.gif .

Bestwishes, Colin.P
