HI All
Went to one of my local scrap yards this morning, tools in hand to take some bits off a Pug 605 that I saw there the end of last week. Into the "office" for permission to go and get the bits off the car. "Sorry sir, we are now a closed yard, we get the bits for you, it's our new H&S rules. Now what was it you wanted?" So I told him "Aircon control panel from the black Pug 605" that I could just see through the window. "Sorry sir, the computer says we do not have any 605's" Things deteriated a little after this and I left empty handed except for my tools. Regards XMexc -------------------- An interest in 2.5TD's.

Like alll the yards I know round here, if you take a hi-vs jacket and a building site hard hat, you will meet the regs. One local yard supplies one as you go in and (usually) insists that you sign the register as you go in and sign it also on the way out. They want to know where to send for your next-of-kin in case one of the top cars falls on you!
The ban on getting your own parts only lasted a few weeks, and was lifted when they got the required gear. -------------------- Xantia 2 litre HDi Saloon X reg 1999

No crap like that from Heynes of Challow, wonder in, find car, get bits off wonder out.. might be nice if you pay on the way out, but seems optional! prices are in the 70's. Unfotunatly only one XM in there, a marron SX 16x estate and I've had most the good bits off that! (recipts in it showed the 6 spheres to be only 6 months old and genuine citroen along with new strut tops, got the lot for £30).

Stewart - that XM was about six cars to the right of an old Renault 30 I nobbled a load of bits from for my car. Last time I saw one in a yard was about twelve years ago. I had a nose around the XM - looked like it had been in very good condition.
Great yard that one. Has the added bonus that you can even offer SWMBO a day out, wandering around all the old furniture sheds and stuff while you wade knee-deep in car parts. -------------------- Tim
