On the way home from Asda tonight ( dry.gif ) I noticed a newish Ferrari behind me. As I turned right at some lights he carried on and a thought crossed my brain.

Which is more rare that or the Xm? rolleyes.gif

Dave,

If everything's working on the XM - it wins by a factor of 10,000 : 1.

The other day traveling across a large swathe of southern England the sparsity of ANY
older Citroen was quite noticeable compared to the numerous perceived rare cars such
as Lambo (yes seem to be a few of these about nowadays)/Aston/Ferrari that seem to
clutter the place up.

Maybe the fine weather has every LHM fingered spannerer under the damned car sorting
things out!! rolleyes.gif

I still rememeber the 'novelty' of seeing a real genuine honest to god GSA being USED
on the local road the other day - the shock of actually seeing another that isn't mine
nearly piled the car up...

Back in the days when my son in law ran company Fords, I would regularly have a dig at him about the various and numerous badges that adorned his cars proclaiming twin cam, twin carb, h & c running water and so on. When he first saw my car he thought he was going to get his own back as he asked me what was exclusive about it. I simply asked him in reply how many others he'd seen. As they used to say in books .... collapse of stout party.

I think that those who appreciate what they are driving do, but those who consider they are just running a 'banger' until it expires, dont. A chap in an estate like mine flashed his lights at me last year, but I saw a hatchback on the A1 acouple of weeks ago and waved, and the bloke looked at me as if I was mad!

My son has a 2.8 Capri of '70s vintage, I see more of them on the road than XMs!

I sat in a couple of friends nearly new cars yesterday while we were at a wedding, one a Merc 3 series AMG, costing an arm at least, while nicely finished, the seats were hard and too short, the other was a Focus which was actually quite comfortable but still the seats were too small.

I always wave at other XMs - when I recognise them. The problem with Series 2s is that they look like a Xantia from the front, by the time you see that unmistakeable kicked up rear wing line you're past them.

Hi Derek

Spoken like a true 24v owner. You should slow down when you are going past them. I gives them time to wave.

Cheers

hehe... Citroenxm,

today, on my way to Glasgow, just before the Clyde Tunel, I met David Halworth!! I let him take over and come in front of me, flashed my lights and he said thanks, and the 2 XMs rolled together in convoy for some 5 minutes till our ways separated. Mind you, 2 manual S1 V6s in convoy in Glasgow!! What's the chances of that!! I wasn't sure it was him but 5mins later an sms came to confirm it! It is so silly, but it really put a smile to my face!!!

Any chance we could organise a convoy up a motorway somewhere?
It would certainly give the marque an outing!

Now that's an idea! I had the dubious pleasure of being passed at slow speed by a convoy of half a dozen of those ghastly retro cars the other month on the M1. Chrysler? or ??? Can't remember, and I'd rather forget.

Is that a gauntlet dropped at the feet of us (sensible) td owners? I have no doubt a sprint of the line would see us dawdling a bit! BUT once rolling i'm sure we would be snapping at the v6 heels - at least up to the ton- particularly those with lucas EPIC . And ,like the tortoise and the hare ,we out- range the v6 sibling. Ho-Hum!
