I have some new bushes to pick up tomorrow.

Has anyone done them before and if so would they be kind enough to post a walkthrough for me?

Do you mean the drop links or the bushes.

Needing to replace the bushes is unusual. If it is the bushes then you need to drop the front subframe a couple of inches to get them out. Other than that there isn't really any other problems just a couple of bolts to get the caps of and remeber to release each end of the rollbar from the drop links too.

Thanks.

Yes it is the roll bar bushes, not the links - I've done them already (recently) so they should undo again ok.

My symptoms are shudder / rumble going over uneven surfaces, that comes up thorugh the front of the car and can be felt through the steering column too. esp so when the offside hits a pothole or rough overbanding. If it's not these bushes then the final piece of the jigsaw is the wishbone bushes.
I've sequentially done the easiest / cheapest potential solution to be where I'm at now. smile.gif

I would doubt it's the rollbar bushes. Have you done the ball joint on the bottom of the strut and also the track rod end? If so then arm bushes should be next but you should be able to see obvious movement at the front arm bush when prised with a bar if the arm bushes need doing.

Both lower ball joints and both track rod ends done last month without a change in the symptoms. There is no discernable movement on the wishbone bushes when pryed. No vagueness in the steering as far as I can tell.

If these roll bar bushes don't make an inprovement then yes it can only be the wishbone bushes. The car is 10 yrs / 114K vintage so they may be worn? who knows until I get them out.

The only thing that makes me want to try the roll bar bushes first is the pressing out of the old wishbone bushes....I've still got bad memories of doing my pug 605 engine mount bushes and the nightmare I had pressing them out & in....to say they were 'interference fit' is an understatement.
