This cars hydraulics were perfect until it was parked up in a garage for three years awaiting front discs and gearbox balljoint work, it was a 'must get down and do that' job but at a cost of £120 a month for the double garage!! Finally did it when they were about to demolsh the garage block. How t went through the MOT I will never know. I watched it rising and falling on the ramps as it ticked over. Anyway now used only to take the dogs to the park it will, on returning home rise as they jump out, two huge GSD's. The front will fall but the rear sits on near maximum height for hours on end only sinkng overnight. On tickover I get the lowish pressure circle until I rev up. Rear spheres are new. Any idea of where I should begin looking?

It sounds as though the rear height corrector is stuck. Spray the linkage with several applications of WD40 over several days and it may well unstick itself. You can add some 'exercise' by moving the height lever from min to max a few times, waiting for it to settle each time.

Could well be the problem Peter due to how long it sat unused for. I will get it up on ramps and give it a good spray.

Could also be that the rear arm bearings are shot and are binding up. My XM did that pre bearing replacement.
