Hi,
I've had a couple of Mk II's that have had heated seats that didn't work. I didn't bother trying to fix them at the time. Having now had a car with them working I think they're really very good. Has anyone had any success in repairing them - or know what's required? The car in question is a Mk II with half leather. Hi
Repairing the seats involves taking the seats apart and removing the heating element from the seat itself. I had a MK II with the drivers seat not working and the main problem seemed to be actually getting the seat covering correctly back in place when refitting the new element - so I didn't bother. The late XM seats heat the back and the base whereas I only remember my early XM's heating the base. I guess that Citroen might have changed the design later on. Cheers Tony |

Hi All
The link and french car forum info is very interesting. Not seen it before. XM electric seats. Both the seats and the seat backs are heated when seat heating is fitted to either a Mk1 or a Mk2. There are some differences in construction and electrical control between Mk1 and Mk2 heated seats. The Mk2 seats have an ECU on each seat to allow 3 different heat settings. A 4 position switch controls each seat. These switches are no longer available from Citroen. On taking the seats apart the heating element comes free in a Mk2 seat but is glued to the cushion foam in a Mk1 seat. Typical problem is burnt out wires usually in the creases of the seat cushion and at connections. Repair is the same as given in FCF link. Regards XMexc -------------------- An interest in 2.5TD's.
