During a brief inability to purchase locally LHM last summer I did try one bottle of LHM plus in the old one. which does drink about a litre a month. Went back to LHM when it came back in stock locally. Is it best to stick to LHM for XM's or is LHM+ OK? What about topping up a mostly LHM filled car with LHM+? regards -------------------- XM 2.0i Prestiege (Red) 1992 K reg RP 5692 (deceased)

Anecdotal evidence suggests that LHM+ is slightly less viscous than normal LHM.
I'm still using my supply of NOS LHM that I bought ages ago - it's in the really old ELF 1 Litre tins. I don't feel any difference with Hydraflush in at the moment either - and that's alot thinner as you can see when you pour it in the reservoir. Has anyone on this forum tried other hyd fluids? I have some aircraft hyd oil that I'm itching to try - the specs look almost identical to LHM. /thinking back to the Dr Pepper adverts....."what's the worst that could happen" -------------------- '99 'V' XM 2.0 CT VSX Auto Estate RP 8360 Green.

hmm, the main reason I was pleased to see the non-plus back in stock was the plus seemed to be leaking more:-). That ties in with lower viscosity. Draw you own conclusions if you are runniong and old Ciroen :-) -------------------- XM 2.0i Prestiege (Red) 1992 K reg RP 5692 (deceased)

That'll come back to haunt you as you limp onto a pitch black motorway hard shoulder at 4am with a hydraulic system thats wet itself Reminds me, when I bought my Xantia, there was a bottle of ordinary power steering fluid in the boot. Very thankfully, the bottle seal was unbroken. I'd have been crying my eyes out if someone had been daft enough to put it in the car. I suspect though that it happens pretty regularly with Joe Public. I can just see it 'Oh don't use that expensive Citroen green crap, this works just as well and is half the price'.... then they cry when that 'stupid crappy unreliable shitron suspension' gives up on them a few dozen miles later.... -------------------- '95 XM 2.1TD VSX Hatch: RP 6429. Hi Wirdy,
DTD 585 OM15 eh? More years ago than I care to remember I put OM15 in the brake system of a Hudson Terraplane. Now that was interesting! Seriously though, as they are both mineral oils with similar viscosities, designed to do the same sort of job at the same sort of pressures, it would probably work fine. But why bother? Large pre-war Yank. I believe it formed the basis for the Railton Special - don't tell me you haven't heard of that?
For me the cheap OM15 didn't turn out so cheap after I'd stripped and replaced all the brake seals, but they were expecting to be fed castor based fluid. Derek -------------------- 1999 3.0V624v Exclusive Black! (RP8362)

I agree, OM15 makes very bad brake fluid, it'll eat all the seals for breakfast!
I've had an old sphere seal soaking in a jamjar of OM15 for the past 2 months and its looking good so far. The only thing I don't like about OM15 is that any overspill tends to go sticky, quite unlike LHM that stays 'oily'. It must be lighter hydrocarbons evaporating off? -------------------- '99 'V' XM 2.0 CT VSX Auto Estate RP 8360 Green.
