I assume this is quite common because this is the second XM I have had with the display not showing the "writing". You can see what is displayed under certain sunlight conditions quite easily. I assume a bulb has gone. On the last car I stripped the radio as best I could and never found a bulb. Does anyone have details of how to fix this problem.

It can be done if you are handy with a soldering iron, but the bulbs are very small and very fiddly. I didn't have the correct ones so I fitted one of the panel light bulbs by straightening out the leads and soldering it in. I had to enlarge the hole slightly to get it in, but its a nice bright light!

I just posted one reply and the net cut me off! Hopefully an anti spamming measure!

Right, its sometime since I did mine but I think that the lamps are in the front panel, they are very small and not easy to see and I think a certain ammount of dismantling was required. It occured to me that LEDs might be used with a suitable series resistor.
