This is the 2 litre injection model. Silver, 2nd owner from new. It seems a shame to break it, but selling it complete will not raise much. It's a J reg 1992, you have to top up oil and water (it's been like that since I've had it), don't think it's the head gasket, but it definately would benefit from new valve guide seals(a puff of smoke comes out on the overrun).
The body has suffered the delamination of the lacquer on the body, the roof had been resrayed by previous 1st owner. The bonnet would not hurt to be resrayed as the lacquer on that is poor, the nearside wing and the two rear panels all have delaminated panels. It must have been a problem for that year or colour - has anyone any idea?
It's done 109,000miles, the majority of electrics work (display intremittant) temp does not work. Nearside wing mirror missing when it was parked up (hit and run- miserable b*****d).
If I was keeping it and had the time(which I have to allocate to my new 2.5 td estate), I would get the head gasket done and new valve seals fitted, unless they could be done without taking the head off. The small water loss could be the head gasket but it pulls really well and doesn't overheat.

To stop me breaking it, I would take £200 for it.
MOT and tax to end of January 2006.
I'll be keeping body parts that fit a Mk2, other than that it's all up for grabs

Hi. Has it got the electronic heater control panel, or is it the Ordinary Roatry dials??

It's got the ordinary rotary dials, they're all working and not hanging off or anything like that.

if it happens to have a working windscreen washer level sensor under the near side front wing i'd be interested. not sure this model has the feature though.

ALL Series one XM's had washer lever sensors. I had a 1989 G reg XM, 2.0litre NON turbo, and it had it

So have all 3 V6's, and a 1993 L reeg turbo.

Unfortunately I've let it go to the scrappers. I pulled a load of bits off it before it went, but I did not save the water tank and sensor - and yes it was working! There is a remedy for these. If you remove them and give them a clean - hey presto it works again. They are copper sensors which builds up with verdigris (I think that's how it's spelt) and it stops the circuit from registering, thinking it's empty all the time. Another thing to try is a couple of steradent tablets in the water that sometimes works as well if you can't be bothered to remove the tank.

there is somehting about this time of year when it annoys me that i didn't fill the washer water at the right time.... like when behind a lorry on a country lane and the salt spray just smears everywhere!

i did get the sensor out on my car to clean it up. it was indeed all gunged up but it went back all shiny but allas still did not work. i then shorted the wiring to prove the rest of the circuit and this did prove ok, so its just the sensor not working.

i'll keep looking unless anyone can volunteer a spare...
