New member needing some advice if poss.

XM 2.5TD Exclusive Saloon 1996.

Working fine until Thursday when very lightly over ran curb stone in supermarket car park with front end, no damage evident. However, upon restarting car some 1/2 hour later, back end sank to floor and then slowly relifted. It has done this nearly everytime since. Doesn't sink when engine switched off, no probs with anti-sink, just does it when starting. Also at same time noticed o/s front is now riding low causing car to list. Suspension rises to higher levels but all the time o/s front corner is 4-5 cm lower.

Can problems be linked to hitting curb or just coincidence?

Any thoughts on what might be wrong, where to look?

LHM level condition good, spheres (7) replaced 23k miles ago.

Regards

John

Sounds odd, I wouldnt worry about the behaviour of the rear suspension providing it rides at normal height, I cant think that running over a kerbstone could have that effect, I think it is more likely to be coincidence. The uneven ride hieght at the front though is something else, the height is controlled by the pressure in the front spheres which should be the same in both. I cant think of any reason why it shouldn't be if the front is rising normally, if it isn't, it could be that the solonoid on the centre sphere is not opening/closing, if it is stuck in the closed position it would make the suspension permanantly hard. The only other thing is that the suspension on one side is damaged, but again it would take of force to do that and I have never heard of it happening.
