Hellow to all XM Fans.
I am in Cannes, South of France, and are the temporary happy owner of an old lady, XM, petrol, 1993. I have exchange the engine blok which now has run about 70.000 km. My problem is, that I sometimes do have problems to start the engine. The engine is turning, plenty of battery, but no egnition. I am pumping the accelerator pedal at the same time as the engine turns, but there is no smell of petrol. The plugs are OK. If it is the pump in the tank, why can it sometimes start the first time i turn the key ? Can you repair the pump ? Looking forward to hear from all of you with the same problem. Best regards Torben |

What engine do you have in the car? Do you know the RP number (On the L/H door pillar, a 4-figure number stencilled and visible when the door is opened.)? -------------------- Xantia 2 litre HDi Saloon X reg 1999

Thank for your reply. The engine is a 4 cylinder petrol from 1993. Sorry dont know the RP number. I am in France - the car in Denmark :-(
Could the troble be the petrol pump ? Even when I do pumping the acceleratorpedel at the same time as I turn the engine, it dos´nt smell at all of petrole ! The trouble comes completely unexpeted - it runs fine in periodes, then suttendly it wont start. Could the trouble be in the electric system ? Would be very greatfull for help. Regards Torben |

Hi Torben,
Take a plug out after you have tried to start the car and check if the plug is wet. If it's dry then it could be the pump or a blockage further back. If it's wet then the Electrics could be to blame. This might give you a clue as to the source of the problem. Good luck Tony -------------------- '98 R 2.1 TD VSX Sal RP 7253 Blue
