Hi all,

well, it looks like the world is taking me off to Canada after all, and sadly I am going to have to say goodbye to my old friends the Citroen XM. I've had them so long that I hope I can find my way round another car!

So my XM is now for sale. I bought the car about eight months ago from Paul Johnson at the Citroen Centre in Oxford, see

www.citroencentre.co.uk

who does a famously good job (at a price - cost £1,750) in selling topnotch XM's (was the XM Centre). The car has been serviced in recent years by the Citroen Centre who have now traded it twice. At the time of purchase the car was fitted with a new exhaust system, new anti-roll bars (both sides front), serviced air conditioning, and replacement electric window mechanism on the left front door. It also has tyres less than 12 months old on all wheels, spare is fairly new and unused. The car has full service history and for much of its life was the luxury transport of a retired Citroen dealer in Oxford who did the cam-belt replacement himself. The car has 91k miles and is in excellent mechanical condition, with the odd XM quirk (to give it character!); front right window mechanism could do with attention (£100 replacement at the Citroen Centre or see instructions on this website). Otherwise it is in great shape with low mileage, super pedigree, doting owners and genuine reason for sale. I also still have my previous 2 litre XM VS which had the cylinder head gasket go 8 months ago - although the last time I ran the engine six months ago it started absolutely fine. In most respects this is a mechanicaly identical car to the VSX I am selling and I have been keeping it for spares although none have been required so far. In fact I have a bottle of Holts Wonderweld which is supposed to be able to fix cylinder Head gaskets so it may be possible to turn this into a roadworthy car (130k miles on the clock).

Details of the cars:

CITROEN XM 2.0i VSX Turbo, 5 Doors, Automatic, Hatchback, Petrol, 1996 N Reg, 92,000 miles, Metallic Bronze. Airbag, Air-Conditioning, Automatic Transmission, Catalytic Converter, Central Door Locking, Electric Adjustable Mirrors, Power-Assisted Steering, Full Service History, ABS, Climate Control, Electric windows, Electric sunroof, Velour Upholstery, Wood Effect Trim, Electrically Adjustable Seats

CITROEN XM 2.0i SX Turbo, 5 Doors, Automatic, Hatchback, Petrol, 1995 M Reg, 130,000 miles, Metallic Racing Green. Airbag, Automatic Transmission, Catalytic Converter, Central Door Locking, Electric Adjustable Mirrors, Power-Assisted Steering, Most Service History (actually always serviced but not always logged), ABS, Electric windows (passengers' jammed down), Electric sunroof, Velour Upholstery. Stored under a tarpaulin.

An unusual package so offers considered. Location: North Hampshire.

We're off to Canada in mid-March so I'd like to hang onto it until then..

Hi i may be interested in this car though i am waiting for my van to sell so it could tie in nicely with your departure date, could you post a price and maybe post some pics, you can be rest assured that it will be going to a good home I am an enthusiast and do most of my own work and currently drive a xantia activa which obviously shares the engine and gearbox of an xm 2.0 turbo manual and i am sick of driving my punto van, very uninspiring.

Hi Marty,

I'm hoping to sell both XM's as a package as the old one has a lot of the parts to keep the newer one on the road for years. I'm targeting in excess of £900-1,000 for the newer one and maybe £1,200 for both. You can see pics of the newer one here:

Hi Marty,

I'm planning on placing an ad for my XM in Autotrader early next week. Let me know if you want to come over to have first look.
