I've been looking at this on ebay. The seller states that you wouldn't expect the box to achive top gear at 45-50mph, I think you would.
Your comments would be appreciated, auto box knacked? or not? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...10821&rd=1&rd=1 -------------------- 92 (J) 2.1TD Est. Usual Green.

Ken
I know of specialist, who had an XM auto D in when I was up there, It would not change up automatically, but was fine if changed manually up the gears! I would DEFENATLY say the auto box is knakered, as I considered it my self. I have a 2.oi petrol autobox sitting as you know, but no spare DERV one I think it would have to be a BOX swap, if you can get hold of an DERV autobox Regards citroenxm PS: Did you remove the Air Con condenser from the car you scrapped??? -------------------- 1993 K Reg 3.0 V6 12 Valve Auto (Green) LPG S1.5 SORNd

THE AUTO BOX IS KNAKCERED
I have also looked at this and was full of optimism reading the initial advert when I put it down to a fuel pump problem. However when the advert was updated it is clear the auto box is away. This auction caused a great deal of interest to my mechanic ( also from Lewis but living in Edinburgh ) who did not know who the car belonged to so hastily phoned his brother on Lewis with the details I had given him - put it down to a "foreigner" who had only recently built a house on the island ( "foreigner" - read person not born on Lewis ) and not a local. Don't you love the XM crowd ! This post has been edited by mark on February 11, 2007 01:34 am -------------------- '93 'L' XM 2.1 TurboD auto saloon RP 6002 blue

I remember reading somewhere that some autobox problems were caused by stuck plungers or something and sticking them in reverse and nailing it could some times clear the problem, I have no idea if this is right or where i read it , may be someone could yeh or ney this as i have no idea .
Seems to me that alot of ebay cars have autobox problems which is the final curtain, unless the owner is very dedicated. My last xm had 193 thousand and the autobox and was perfect so its not all doom and gloom and that came from ebay. It had been citroen serviced most of its life and im guessing that its when the oil stops being changed that the problems start occuring. -------------------- 1994 2.1TD auto estate.
