To all those suffering in the cold and bleak of the UK, as one happy Aussie, I'd just like to say "Thanks". Thanks to your (and our) ancestors for sticking a bunch of crims and soldiers on some leaky old ships and sending them to the end of the earth.

Today, at the end of the earth, we celebrated their arrival 219 years ago. Many of us congregated in major cities and some of us even went on ferry rides around Sydney Harbour.

Here is a pic I took!

It was a lovely 28 degrees celcius and a gentle ocean breeze blowing keeping everything very nice.

Hi UFO

Sounds really nice. I'm surprised that you didn't mention the cricket to really rub it in.

You are the lucky ones. I was in another former colony last week. Toronto Ca. -10degreesC and -25 with wind chill. I reckon that you ancestors struck lucky.

Cheers

Tony

PS. Still love it here though!

Cricket? Is that the game played by womanising yobbos who get carried away sending SMS messages? If they stopped playing cricket tomorrow I would not miss it - well yes I would because it would mean TV might have something else on for December through to February!

Australia probably could take some crims from the UK. We have all those lovely detention centres that were built for illegal immigrants and I think they are now emptying out. They are in lovely cool places like the centre of South Australia etc! wacko.gif

I think the Canadians did alright, it's just a pity they got stuck with the grumpy Quebecois! (flame proof suit on?)
