New personally to Citroen but my folks had three early new CXs and a Dyane. The first was bought from agents in Edinburgh. A salesman who was unused to the C matic transmission drove it through the showroom window! Not a good start.

I've just bought a '96 2.1 VSX estate. I was introduced to XM's by a mountainbiking and fellow 60's Mini fanatic, who had a succession of them and has raved about their virtues, but not been unrealistic about their failings. Looking forward to magic carpet ride and space to carry bikes and paintings.

Seen a lot of elderly XMs still on French roads so long term reliability/durability in the right hands a real possibility.

You wont find a bigger estate anwhere, except perhaps the CX and I have had three of those as well. I my humble opinion the car you have is the best of the lot if you need a lot of room, especially as it is a 'YBL', the last manuals they sold in this country. I was a TV engineer and could get three 28" sets in the back with the seat up!

Yes, the can give problems and used to be one of the most difficult cars to work on, but have you seen some of the new ones! But the driving experience, or perhaps I should say 'riding' experience makes it all worthwhile.
