Engine Management Light And Brakes, update

Following my earlier listing under electrics I am pleased to report that I have now obtained some more advice from local garages, including diagnosis of the engine management fault.

The light is now a permanent feature of the dashboard display, and there does appear to be some very slight deterioration in the running of the engine. I am told that fault No.46 was read from the ECU, which apparently points to the turbo and possible air leaks and/or a 'waste gate' fault. There is also a dump valve fitted on an air line/breather pipe associated with the turbo, which may be at fault and I understand is not standard item, plus it could point to an earlier problem. I am assured that continued running of the engine will cause no damage and a breakdown is fairly unlikely.

In relation to the brakes, to date there is no ABS fault message on the display, so I assume that suggests that the sensors and ECU are operative? I intend to examine the shoes, discs and sensors to see if there is anything obviously amiss and possibly to bleed the brakes.

I would be grateful for any further thoughts.

Cant help with the engine problem I'm afraid, know nothing about petrol engines, well not modern ones anyway. Regarding the ABS, if the abs light comes on when you switch the ignition on and then goes off, all should be OK. If the abs light is not coming on at all, you have a problem.
