For some time now, the heater on my 2.1td (series 1) with climate control, only blows when turned fully on.
I tried changing the control unit on the dash as I had a spare one but it made no difference, I'm told it could be a diode mounted under the dash? does anyone have any ideas please. -------------------- 92 (J) 2.1TD Est. Usual Green.

Hi Ken
In the self help you will find one on heater blower repair. I think it was PeterN that put up a post about blowing only on full being a typical symptom of failure of the transistors on the module fixed in the blower motor. The blower is fairly easy to remove. Stripping it down to remove/repair the module is not quite as easy. If you want a quick fix then it is worth considering a secondhand one from a scrap yard (a working one is £20 round my way). The same blower is fitted to Xantias and Pug 406 so you do not have to search for a scrap XM. Regards XMexc -------------------- An interest in 2.5TD's.

Hi Ken
I missed that one, I have been away. XMexc is quite right, its usually a failure of the regulator transistors on the motor assembly, but as he says, the easiest thing to do is swap the blower. Peter.N. -------------------- Used to have:

Thanks for the help, I'm familiar with these on the Xantia, has to be about the only job on the Xant that was easier than the BX.

Thanks but I seem unable to get these downloads. Tried turning off my antivirus but still the same, also adobe reader is installed.
Do I need the module out of a particular Xantia as the one I have is totally different. Also would the one out of an A/C model XM fit? -------------------- 92 (J) 2.1TD Est. Usual Green.

Hi Ken
All the XM ones I have seen are the same. This covers Mk1, Mk2, A/C and not A/C. Sorry about the Xantia error. I have only seen them in scrap cars and as the fans looked the same I assumed the control module was. Regards XMexc -------------------- An interest in 2.5TD's.

Problem now sorted, I took the one out of the A/C spares car. Once out I recognised it as being the same one as in some 405's.
