Anyone out there help me with a layout drawing or schematic for a series 1.5 fusebox showing connections from the looms and relay layout?

Can't get power to the main relay (beside the ECU) and as far as I can make out problem is somewhere at the fusebox.

Hi xmowner

As this is your first post - welcome to the club. I only have a Haynes manual which is not the most brilliant guide but does sometimes help. Unfortunatly my scanner isn't working at present or I would send you a copy. If you dont have a Haynes manual, they are quite useful and quite cheap on ebay.

However to your problem. Do you have a supply to the ignition switch? as that seems to be the first in line. What does the relay do? if you can ascertain that I should be able to find it on the diagram.

Peter,
I have the Haynes manual unfortunately its no real help, I have tested the ignition switch and its ok, problem happened when I was doing a head gasket (by the way its a 2.0 petrol) accidently shorted the wire from the suppression capacitor on the coil to ground, thereafter car refused to start, also lost all engine management dash lights to the right of the "STOP" lamp - have tried replacement ECU, coil and ignition amplifier also removed the alarm and immobiliser, checked the usual connectors under the LHM tank and the earth points all with no success. I can start the engine by powering the main relay direct from the battery and tuning on the ignition as normal, engine starts every time unfortunately it won't switch off until I disconnect the relay again. I could wire a circuit to get it running putting in another relay but I dont want to do that I would prefer to sort the actual fault, which seems to be down to somewhere in the fusebox area.

I have another XM thats running (unfortunately the hydraulics are shot) which I was planning to use for parts so I will probably take the fusebox out of that at the weekend and try it unless someone can give me some help.

John
