Hi All.

Is it just my system, or has anyone else noticed significant delays creeping into mail delivery with Outlook Express ? I'm discounting Ebay mails, since I suspect their computer is held together with string and sticky tape, but now other mails are taking up to or beyond a day to arrive. I reckon the mails are all stacked up so 'they' can read them first !

Mike.

I havn't noticed that Mike, but since I downloaded the new Internet Explorer, it wont let me print from it, I have to put whatever on the desktop and print it from there.

Hi Peter.

Frustrating these machines ! I've downloaded IE7, but had no problems (yet) with printing off the screen. Why they constantly have to rejig the stuff beats me.

Mike.

Hi Mike,

If Lookout Distress is getting slow and buggy on you, it may be that the message stores have got cluttered with junk and empty space.
The best thing you can do to start of with is delete any unnecessary messages, and empty the deleted items folder.
Sadly, when you delete things, they're not actually removed from the store, just marked as 'not there', so the next step would be to run the maintenance routine on them.

You can do this, from memory (been years since I've supported OE), by going to Tools -> Options -> Maintenance. In there, you should find some button marked 'Clean stores now' or similar. Click this and it should clean things up a bit, and hopefully stop it running so slowly.

Defragging your hard drive after you do this wouldn't hurt either.

Hi Ciaran.

Thanks for the tips -- will give them a whirl. It's not so much OE is running slowly on my machine though, more that emails are turning up out of sequence and late by a day or more, which makes me suspect the delivery system somewhere beyond my machine.

Regards, Mike.

Aha sorry Mike, I totally misread your original message.

Who is your ISP? (If you say AOL or Tiscali I won't be surprised!!)

Hi Henry.

Have to say that at times the alternative adage of if it's not broken, etc. is much preferable ! Strikes me that quite often with software, useful functions actually disappear on 'upgrades', leaving the package less user friendly than previous versions.

Mike.
