Key Switch Under Bonnet, Its purpose

HI i have a key switch under thr bonnet to the left of the radiator does any one know what its for?
Engine size 2.1TD . M reg

Hi Rayco,

It isolates the horn on the intruder alarm. The flashing lights still work though.

ps why don't you add your car details to your signature, that way you don't have to repeat it every time? Click on 'My Controls' at the top right, click on 'Edit my Signature' at the bottom left of the next screen and type your detials in the white box in the middle of the following screen. Done.

Thanks Noz .Can you tell me if there are two positions or three ?because when i insert the key it moves like one notch to the left and then it can be turned a further 1/4 turn to left.
Can you tell me Noz in what position should it be.

Hi Rayco,

On mine the key is spring returned to the mid position so from the entry position it can rotate left or right by about 1/8th of a turn. The imprint on the top side of the cover says clockwise is off.
