I have a 1996 2.5 td hatchback (Exclusive and only done 40k from new). The sunroof has been tampered with and does not operate. It is jammed in a partly opened position. The motor works fine but the mechanism seems to be seized, even manually it can't be moved. I assume access to the mechanism is gained by removing the roof liner. How difficult is this and any ideas?

I had the same problem with my '96 2.1TD estate, what has probably happened is that the operating cables have broken. According to the manual you have to remove the interior trim, as I didn't particularly want to go down that road I found an independent sunroof specialist in Yellow Pages who reckoned that he could do it from outside for about £100 + if I supplied the cables. In the event, I changed the car so didn't have the job done. Not a lot of useful information but hope it helps.
