Hello all,

For some time now I have been having trouble downloading attachments from the Forum, and I note that some other members have had similar problems. All I've been getting is a page of gibberish. We use a Mac, and when I first started using this Forum I could download attachments without any problems, but when the gibberish started appearing I figured it was something to do with the firewall at our ISP. A local Mac expert has helped me resolve the issue and I can now download attachments from the Forum again.

The default browser on a Mac is called Safari, and I much prefer it to MS Explorer. The other browser we use is Firefox, which a lot of people also prefer to the Microsoft offering. Turns out that Microsoft have some particular protocols that some other browsers don't have, and if the attachments are composed or initially posted on a Microsoft platform then there is a good chance that non-Microsoft browsers will have trouble handling the attachment.

So the fix was simple - I still use Safari to access the Forum, but if I need to download an attachment, then I do it via the MS Explorer that is also on my Mac. Works a treat.

Regards,
Kiwi

yup, except I really try and avoid using IE unless extremely necessary

I find right clicking n attachment then doing a save as works, make sure you "cut" the correct filename before doing the sav as though, otherwise it saves as index.php.

Hi Kiwi,

Thanks for the heads up. I could never figure out why it did that.

Cheers
