Hi,
My car is a 91 S1 and does not have the keypad immobiliser. Is the immobiliser unit self-contained within the keypad, and do all xm's have the necessary wiring from the factory? Regards Loopy -------------------- 1991 2.0 Si Auto.

Hi Loopy,
The immobiliser code is stored in the engine management ecu. Therefore the immobiliser keypad would have to be able to communicate with the engine ecu and the engine ecu would need to have the appropriate wiring and coding to talk back. I haven't looked at the wiring but it doesn't seem likely if there were no options for immobilisers on that model with that engine ecu. Maybe someone knows if this engine variant came with an option of an immobiliser from new?
