Hi Guys ,
New to the forum , but not XM's. My first was a K reg Saloon when it had covered only 16K miles, and I've subsequently moved to Estates. I can honestly say I've NEVER had a major problem [ apart from n/s sidelamp assemblies disappearing when you reach warp factor 3 ] - until now. It's been so long siince I needed to consult my workshop manual I can't even find it now! On a recent trip the heater controls ALL decided to malfunction - not good as I was half way across Belgium at the time on my way to Germany. Couldn't stop so soldiered on with side window partially open to clear windscreen - cold ! I checked the fuses and all intact. My next thought was "relay" - as one of them had been intermittemtly clicking for a few months. No manual so a bit of a loss. Anyone with any ideas? Might be a "common fault". The blower and the temp. controls seem to be the culprits. Would appreciate any leads as Winter's approaching - fast. BTW - anyone got a spare N/S sidelamp ass'y!? Will post more on the forum in due course - I love my XM's! ATB beachcomber |

Hi beachcomber,
Welcome to club-xm. I hope you find your membership useful. Please don't hesitate to come back and share your woes with us. The more information is shared the longer we can keep our beloveds on the road. Your problem is almost certainly the fuse box beside the battery tray. The fuses can look OK from above but the fuse carrier will almost certainly be corroded on the underside. Have a look and let us know what you find. What model are we talking about? There may be specific solutions depending on models, though if you go down the line that noz is suggesting, it will probably apply to all models from the year dot!

Well done you guys!! Worth every penny of my membership.
I did trawl thro' the other posts this pm - just before it started hail and snow [ honest ]. And your tip re: the engine comp. fuse box was what I was hoping it would be, as I recently had a whole dash out jobbie with my 3ltr espace to replace a heater matrix - never again. More in hope than expectation I removed the said fuse, and joy of joys, not only was it corroded but showed signs OF BURNING on one blade. Cleaned contacts new fuse and whoooppeeee - it all works as it should. Many thanx. Now then if we can sort out that n/s sidelamp that went awol on the blind back down the autobahn.? I'll post under wanted, but I need a tow bar, then I can sell my Volvo 965 together with string back gloves, trilby, pipe and slippers. If I can also sell my Espace I will be in the market for either a 2.5 diesel or V6 estate. Anyone had any experience of LPG conversions on the V6? BTW my current car is a VSX estate [ Turbo / petrol / auto ] 1996 vintage and low mileage - just broke the 100K on the last trip. Again many thanx beachcomber |

In this forum, xmexclusive or citroenxm (can't remember which) have alot of experience with V6 LPGs, so pm them if they don't come back to you.
Was asking for a sidelamp here around summer...no luck, it seems they are rare...bought a new one from GSF finally. regards George -------------------- XM '94 V6 12v, manual, Diravi - Mark "1.5" in black - bought: 138,000mls now: 167,000 miles

Hi beachcomber
Side lamps are better bought new. They are rare on ebay and often reach near to GSF prices. There is also a risk with secondhand ones that you will get one with a lense that has gone opaque. This unfortunately can be a MOT failure if both side lights do not give out similar light levels. Citroenxm is the expert on Gas V6's. I have thought about Gas since ending up with a V6 auto that I use now as it was too good to scrap. For me the big problem is the size of the tank in the boot so long term I will stick to 2.5TD's. Regards XMexc -------------------- An interest in 2.5TD's.
