Hi All
Help my motor boils and water is runnig out from the cooler (radiator). I have tried to find a bad fuse, connection and ground. The warning STOP overheating comes on with cold and warm motor fully uncontrolled. There are tree sensors at the pumphousing a blue, brown and green but I have changed only the blue and without luck. The other two could be defekt, measuring shows an increasing value OHM but very different.. Could some of the members give me a hint what to do?

Hi Henne

There are several relays associated with the fan control system, I think they are located behind the LH headlight, they suffer from poor / intermittent connections . I have a problem with mine indicating that its overheating when is almost cold and the fans randomly starting and stopping, but they usually work OK when required. As the fault has never stayed long enough for me to find it, I cant say for sure what the trouble is, but I am sure someone else on here will.

As always with the relays under the lip of the radiator top panel, corrosion is the usual problem. the 3 on the LH (passenger) side are for the rad. fans, the one on the RH side is for the dip headlights. This applies to the 1995-on models generally. The 1997-on models may vary slightly, but that's where most of the problems originate on both. Remove, spray sockets and relay terminals with contact cleaner, apply Vaseline generously to both relay legs and sockets, and replace. All 3 fan relays are the same spec.

Hello. You don't mention what engine you have fitted, but if it's either of the diesels, until you sort the underlying electrics, I should rig up a temporary manual control for the fans as you really, really don't want to be having them boil up on a regular basis. If you can't get around to that, then it's at least worth turning the heater and blower to maximum hot at the times you find it overheats.

Mike.
