I have been having a fault with my 2.0i Magneti Marelli G5 ecu for the past month, the diagnostic lamp would light for a fraction of a second a cause the engine to hesitate or sometimes stall if it was idling.
Each time i would try to read the code it detected no error, only once did it tell me there was a fault with the coil and idle control valve.I had checked all the wiring and tested all the other components of the injection system, i even opened up the ecu to check for dry joints but all seemed ok. Recently i fitted another coil and its been driving perfectly since. Rouben. |

Hi Rouben,
Can I assume you are reading the codes with a Draper or Gunson's code reader? - the kind you would buy at an accessory shop? If so, these types of code readers only tell you what the "current" fault codes are. If you have an intermittent fault and it is not present when you check with your code reader then you won't be able to see it. The only way to find out about an intermittent fault is to take the car to a garage or private owner of a proprietary ecu computer (Saouris, Proxia, Lexia, Elit etc). Intermittent faults are stored in the memory and can be read by one of these ecu computers. Otherwise you will have to wait until the problem becomes worse so that you can read the code whilst the fault is present. Hi Noz, i actually built one from the circuit you supplied with the ecu diagnostic codes, so its thanks to you (and allot of persistance from me) the car is running normally again.
